Care guide

Silver jewelry

  • Store in an airtight container: Exposure to air causes sterling silver to tarnish over time. Store your jewelry in a sealed plastic bag, anti-tarnish cloth, or a jewelry box with anti-tarnish strips.
  • Keep it dry: Moisture accelerates tarnishing. Avoid wearing your sterling silver jewelry while showering, swimming, or exercising.
  • Avoid chemicals: Perfumes, lotions, household cleaners, chlorine, and hand sanitizers can react with silver, leading to discoloration. Repeated exposure to hand sanitizer, especially alcohol-based ones, may weaken soldered areas in rings over time. Apply beauty products before putting on your jewelry and remove rings before using hand sanitizer when possible.
  • Cleaning: Mild soap and water can be used for cleaning, but ensure the jewelry is dried thoroughly afterward. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Use a jewelry polishing cloth to remove tarnish and restore shine.

Gemstone jewelry

Most gemstones can be cleaned using warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush without causing damage. Keep in mind:

  • Porous stones (lapis lazuli, onyx, chalcedony, turquoise, pearl): absorb water and chemicals, which can cause discoloration, structural weakening, or even long-term damage.
  • Non-porous stones (natural or lab-made sapphire, ruby, garnet, amethyst): do not absorb liquids, making them more resilient to water exposure, but they can still be affected by harsh chemicals.
